Farsighted by Steven Johnson

It has long been a proven fact that people are not very good judges of what we will want in the future. And, to me, that is intriguing. So when I learned that Steven Johnson was examining these very ideas I had to read the book. I came away with a mediocre impression. Gridiron Genius by Michael Lombardi

So what does a man with a lifetime’s worth of experience in the NFL have to share with someone wanting to learn more about business? Nothing less than a few very good lessons on the topics of team-building and a bevy of some really wonderful quotes. If you are a football fan you can’t miss out on this one. If you’re not into football, like myself, there is still plenty to be gained here.

Collins and his team take a fantastically analytical approach to determine and document the factors surrounding the fall from grace of previously outstanding companies. I dare say this is the most important of Collins’ books.

Illuminate by Nancy Duarte & Patti Sanchez

I am a huge fan of Nancy Darte’s work, but I'm just going to say it: This book was not her best work. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of interesting information in there about the power of stories and symbols. But I personally felt that there was too much of an undertone that tapped into what I can only call politics, but that may not be the best word.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck by Mark Manson

We are all adults here. Let’s face it, there is alot going on in our lives. So how do we make it through the day with the world trying to get us to care about more and more? Well, Manson feels that it is important that we decide what is important, and what isn’t. In short, Manson feels that we give too many fucks and we should think about that in order to make our own lives better.
